After a few years of talking about it and then having her actually turn 50, we went on Aunt Mimi's 50th birthday cruise celebration. There were 13 of us total that went and we had lots of fun.
On Saturday, we all either drove or flew down to Baltimore and stayed over the night before. Baltimore had just received a HUGE amount of snow so Steve actually had to shovel out a parking spot for our car at the hotel. Here is a pic of someone's car that must've been on a cruise...imagine coming back to that?!?
Everyone is super excited for "Mimi's Mayhem" to get on the ship!
Nanny, Luke and Aidan chill in the back
There's our ship!
Waiting to go through security - Nanny got in trouble for taking this picture. Apparently cameras are a no-no inside the port check-in.
Although our ship was delayed arriving for our departure, the whole process was very smooth. Thank goodness for a portable dvd player. It was a sanity saver for us. It is also where Luke developed his love for NEMO!
Once we actually got on the ship, we had a wait just a bit longer for our rooms to be ready. We hung out in the lounge while Stevo, Nanny and Aidan explored the ship. We created some fun of our own and even had a cocktail while we waited.
Naughty Aunt Mimi!
Exploring the ship:
The next day we were at sea so Steve and my parents decided to do a slot tournament. Stevo was on the board for a little bit but eventually got bumped off:
The first night was "formal night" so we got Luke all dressed up - here he is hugging his daddy:
This tie is too tight...
We brought the pack-n-play but each night they set up the couch into a makeshift bed so we put Luke there instead. It worked for one night and then he and I ended up sleeping in the big bed, while Stevo slept on the couch.
The next day we were at sea again and b/c it was still so cold, we stayed indoors mostly. Here we are in Nanny's room where Luke stole her apple...and proceeded to get a piece stuck in his throat!
Dinner again - Pop sure knows how to dress the cruise part.
We had fantastic waiters - there were so great with Luke.
Luke enjoyed the shows also:
The next day we arrived in Port Canaveral and met up with Pat and George. The weather was cold! We visited the Ron Jon surf shop and I had to get a sweatshirt b/c it was so chilly. But we still had to dip our toes in the ocean. Also, Steve and Aidan were supposed to have a surf lesson but that got cancelled...surprisingly, b/c of lack of waves, not b/c of the freezing cold weather!
So happy to be taking a pic with his mom...
Showing Grandpa some pictures:
Riding the escalator at the surf shop.
