I heart John Legend

Last Friday, Nanny and I went to NYC to see John Legend for free! I joined his fan club a year or so ago so that I could get presale tickets and it has been so worth it. He played for over 2 hours in this small intimate club-like setting. We were probably about 20 feet away from him and even got a glimpse into what we will look like in 20 or so years (right, nan?). Here are some pics from the concert:

This was the view from where I was standing...see how close we were?

Stephen Colbert was there too and they sang Happy Birthday to his wife...

Check out this clip from Stephen Colbert's show:

It was so much fun!!! Too bad Nanny picked our seats on the train home though...she does not have enough experience to know which ones to pick and we got ourselves a weirdo seatmate...luckily it was only to Wantagh. Love ya Nan! :)

Having some fun with my scanner...

I finally got around to hooking up my scanner and raided our parents houses for baby photos to see if Luke looks like us...what do you think?

Here is Luke on the left after eating cereal and I am on the right...

Here is Luke being teased/tickled by Nana and I am on the right...

And again...Nana loves to tickle...

And here is Luke and Steve...

And again...

So?!? What do you all think?

Some pics from the week

Sorry its been a while since I updated Luke's blog. Things have been a little busy around here. Here are some pics from these past few weeks. I've also added a new quiz since we started Luke on solids. Please vote and make sure to check back to see if you were right.

Here is Luke in his outfit that Aunt Mimi got for him:

Here is Luke enjoying a piece of banana in his mesh feeder:

And finally...a video of Luke not having fun with his activity center:

Luke vs. Peconic Bay

We took Luke swimming last week and he didn't really show much enthusiasm for it. It was like he could take it or leave it. He did try to drink the water a few times too.

Some pics from the bay:

It was low tide though and Mom and Dad were not loving it so we went to Stevo's parents house to swim in their pool.

Also Luke has now become pretty flexible and can chew on his toes like a little monkey.

Giddy-up cowboy

Luke finally figured out how to have fun on the jumperoo and guess who is taking two hour naps b/c he is exhausted from it?!?

I survived a car trip with a 5 month old!

This past weekend we went on our first family roadtrip. Late Friday morning, we headed upstate to go to Alicia's wedding. Along the way, we stopped at our favorite Mobil rest stop to give Luke a break from the car and to refuel ourselves.

Due to traffic/construction/traveling with a baby, I made it up to the wedding just in time and I actually had to change in the car! But it was a wonderful wedding and Alicia looked fantastic. Her and Geoff seem so much in love too...so cute!

Luke spent his first night in a hotel and hung out there with Stevo while I was at the wedding. Both boys were exhausted from the trip and were asleep by the time I got back.

Then Saturday we headed over to Mechanicville to see Laura and Keith's house that they are building. It is such a nice house and they are doing a great job with the construction and decorating. We can't wait to see it completed and hopefully, Keith will let Luke stay over...lol

After Keith and Laura's, we headed over to Lisa and Eric's so that we could meet Cooper who arrived last month. Although Cooper and Luke were instant BFFs and Luke even gave Cooper his first beatdown, it turned out that Luke had a much stronger love for Buckley. Lisa and Eric are lucky that we didn't stash him away in Luke's diaper bag. Luke also got to meet Sarah and Frankie who were on their way to a wedding.

"Huh?! What?!? I didn't do anything...see I've got my hands to myself!"

Luke and Stevo at another rest stop - Luke had a monster stinky diaper...even the flies came around to check it out.

Later that night after arriving in Norwich, we went out to dinner at Brooks BBQ with my parents, Aunt Marie, Trina, and Dave & Kathy (my dad's cousins).

Luke was a big fan of Fred's Inn even though we froze him out with the air conditioning. His poor hands and feet were like icicles when we woke up in the morning.

Sunday morning we headed out to Owego for the Prindle/Nelson family reunion...there was a small turnout (nothing like I remembered from when I was little) but Luke did get to hang out with Aunt Marie and my parents.

Being cute is hard work so Luke took a nap on Mom

Later on, we saw this man walking these strange animals. At first I thought that they were lemurs but they were some other weird animal...I will have to look up what they were and edit this post later.

We decided to leave from the reunion and head straight home since we were close to the main highway. The car ride home was hellish. What should have been a 5 hour car ride turned into a 9 hour car ride. We hit every construction site imaginable and all sorts of traffic once we got near the city. Needless to say, all were exhausted by the time we got home. Luke was such a trooper though and I was able to keep him somewhat entertained in the back. Here is a pic of him as we were crossing the Tappan Zee bridge...

"How much longer do we have to drive?!?!?!"

Strange Wilderness trailer

When I was staying in the hospital after Luke was born, the tv was constantly on. This movie preview was on all the time and it always made me laugh so hard. I was just updating the netflix queue (we just starting watching season 1 of Weeds) and realized that this movie is now on video...this part just cracked me up everytime.

Feels like heaven...

OMG - News flash!!! Luke slept until a few minutes after 8:00 this morning!!! This is something that I haven't done since before Luke was born. And how did he do it? On his belly (gasp!!) with his face pressed against the side of the bassinet (double gasp!!!). So this has shown me two things;

(1) That Luke has gone from being a back sleeper to a side sleeper and now to a stomach sleeper (just like his mom).

(2) That it is definitely time to move him out of the bassinet. :) I was going to do this a couple of weeks ago but then he started waking up at night and since we are going away this weekend and I knew that would mess his sleep up anyway, decided to wait until we got back. Yes, his legs are pretty much bent in it and yes, it is very small for him but he likes it...

Now it is time for this bad mom to give him some breakfast...perhaps some honey and peanut butter sandwiches while I'm on a roll...

PS I'm totally kidding about the honey and PB.

Luke tries oatmeal...

And likes it! Luke likes oatmeal much better than rice cereal. And although he looks like an old man without his dentures when he eats it, it is so darn cute...check it out.

Head bangin Luke

I tried to get Luke to be a hip hop music lover like his mom...but it seems, it was all for nothing as Luke is destined to be a head banger. Check out the video below:

Happy 4th of July (a day late)

So yesterday was the 4th of July and we had a fantastic day. First we went to the parade to see Aidan marching:

Grace was dressed and acting very patriotic with her flag:

Lani and her antics:

After a nice long nap, we all went to Andrea's for dinner - her parents cooked up a fantastic feast (as usual) and Luke was very upset that he is still only eating rice cereal. He was definitely watching us eating all the wonderful foods. And as usual, he was on his best behavior and was a fantastic baby. We also learned that Andrea's sister, Lauren is having twin girls in less than two weeks so we wish them all the best and Luke is very excited to have two girlfriends in the near future.

Also, we are giving Luke rice cereal and he is definitely getting a lot better than the first time we gave it to him. Here are some pics from yesterday's feeding - Enjoy!

Mom, I can feed myself, thank you very much!
