Luke's 2nd Birthday!

Even though his birthday was almost 2 months ago, I still can't believe he is 2 years old.  He is learning so much everyday and talking so much more, I can hardly believe that it was just two years ago that my little chunker was born.

or that it was just one year ago that we celebrated his 1st birthday:
This year's party was a lot of fun since we knew that he would be more into it.  We invited some of his friends, our friends and our family.  We had a Sesame Street theme and lots of fun food.

The pinata was tough - thankfully Uncle Danny was there to help:

The Elmo pinata finally breaks free of candy!
This must be where Luke developed his love of tootsie rolls:

Singing to him:
Blowing/spitting out the candles:
Yay!!!  So excited!!!
The cupcake's so good, his eyes crossed!

The next day was his actual birthday so he had more presents to open and more fun stuff to eat.  For breakfast we took him to his favorite place (and mine)...McDonalds.  He loves his pancakes:

Later that night we went to Stevo's parent's house for some cake and more singing.  We were first serenaded by music from the Good Time Trio (aka Luke, Pat and George).  Please make sure to notice Pat's piano playing.  ;-)

Then we all sang to Luke - he LOVED it.

We rounded off the birthday celebration with some cupcakes for his sitter's house and then took him to Safari Adventure for some fun.  I'd say it was a great 2nd birthday celebration weekend.

January 2010 updates

n January, I finally accepted the fact that my point & shoot camera was lost. I loved this camera and was devestated that it was lost but really needed something tiny rather than lugging around my DSLR. Plus I knew that we were going away in February and I would need something smaller. So after weeks of research, I ended up getting a new one...a Canon (of course) - SX200IS. It has HD video and takes photos on manual. So I have it rush shipped b/c we were headed upstate to visit everyone from Siena.

So we drive up to stay at Sarah's and as we are unpacking the bags of my Jeep, I find my old point and shoot...literally a day after I receive my new one...it never fails...needless to say, I kept the new one and now keep the old one in the diaper bag just in case...

So like I said, we went upstate in January so Steve could go skiing and we could visit with everyone else. We stayed with Sarah and he just adored her. Each morning when we woke up, he would call for her and loved feeding her fishy and we actually watched Finding Nemo there for the first time and now it is his FAVORITE movie.  She also has inappropriate books on poop and teaches him to splash in the tub (thanks...).

Here is a video of the splashing:

She also taught him gagging/throw up noises...

While we were there, Sarah had to work and Steve went skiing so Lisa and Coop picked us up for a playdate.  I was worried about Luke being a bully as he had just gotten a time-out at his sitter's for pushing another kid down but it went relatively smoothly.  Both boys are very into cars and Cooper introduced Luke to what is now Luke's favorite show - the Chuggingtons.

Some video of them playing and yup - you'll see Luke trying to steal a car from Coop:

The next day we went got to see Keith, Laura and Alicia at the Johnson house. We went there when they were building the house (right after Alicia's wedding) and it was nice to see the finished product. Luke made himself right at home at their house and definitely took a liking to Keith...go figure. ;-)
After leaving their house, we took a quick ride to Siena so that we could see Brittany and get some stuff from the bookstore.  While we were there, I made sure that our class gift had my name on it and made sure to take a pic for proof.  Luke enjoyed walking on the stage and maybe someday a date with him will be auctioned off there.

That night we all went back to the Swansons to play some more.  Luke definitely had a lot of fun and we can only hope that they will come visit us this summer.  (hint, hint!).

First aquarium visit

I took off the week between Christmas and New Years so that we could have some fun and some of that fun included bringing Luke to the aquarium for the first time.  He's been to aquariums while we were on trips but never our local one.  I figured he'd love it.  wrong...

First off, we went to the stingray petting tank.  Well, it must've been close to feeding time b/c one of them practically jumped out of the tank while Steve was holding Luke...Luke started bawling and Steve got soaked!

After we calmed him down, he was okay with watching fish through the glass:

Here fishy, fishy, fishy...

Fishy?  why are you sleeping?  wake up! wake up!!!

He loved the shark tank but was afraid of the seals...go figure...
